The Veterans Affairs health-care system is socialized medicine. It is picture of what a single-payer system will look like should President Obama and his fellow progressives get their way. It is a model of how health care will work — if you can survive the lines and waiting lists long enough to get treatment.

With promises far exceeding what they can deliver, progressives want us to believe health care will improve once the profit motive is driven from medicine. Yet, we now have evidence that veterans died waiting for treatment because VA employees were chasing bonuses and promotions. So not only does our socialized VA example retain the greed found in its market-driven alternative, but it adds naked ambition along with the almost criminal inefficiencies that are a hallmark of socialized medicine everywhere.
