Karl Rove, the former aide to President George W. Bush, said President Obama has gone far and beyond what any previous White House head has done as far as issuing executive mandates — to the point of taking on king-like qualities.

Mr. Bush issued executive orders, but hardly to the degree Mr. Obama has, Mr. Rove said on “Fox News Sunday,” citing Mr. Obama’s recent order to exempt certain classes of illegal immigrants from deportation laws.

“The lawyers came back and said you have the ability to exempt individuals, but no ability to exempt a class,” Mr. Rove said, Politico reported. “And yet this president has exempted a class of people from enforcement of immigration laws. This is imperial power. This is George the Third. This is some monarch [saying], ’I am the law.’”

Speaker of the House John Boehner has indicated plans to sue Mr. Obama over perceived executive overreach.
