More than 60 women and girls captured by terrorists with Boko Haram in Nigeria last month have fled and escaped.
A high-level but unnamed security official in the region confirmed the escape to Agence France-Presse. On top of that, a local villager, Abbas Gava, said he had “received an alert from my colleagues … that about 63 of the abducted women and girls had made it back home,” Time reported.
More than 200 schoolgirls taken hostage by the militants in April are still being held.
The escape follows clashes between Boko Haram members and soldiers with the Nigerian government that took place on Friday, leaving 50 insurgents dead, Time said.
