I hope that the Israelis will not let anyone dissuade them from defending their country against Hamas. How do you sue for peace with an enemy whose only goal in life is your total annihilation? It’s easy for other nations to urge this tiny country surrounded by those who wish it harm to restrain military power, but restraint would only give Israel’s enemy more time to fortify itself.

No matter what concessions the Israelis make, Hamas will never be satisfied until Israel ceases to exist. Some years ago, I read the following quote from then-Knesset Chairman Benjamin Netanyahu, and I think that it speaks for itself: “If the Arabs lay down their arms, there will be no war. If the Israelis lay down their arms, there will be no Israel.”
