The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) recently captured a Hamas operative who said he was trained to carry out paraglider attacks on civilian targets.

The Shin Bet security service said a man was arrested in southern Gaza on July 21, who then said he was recruited by Hamas in 2007, the Times of Israel  reported Wednesday. He added that he took part in highly-specialized military training in 2010 while in Malaysia with 10 other members of the terrorist group, the paper reported.

The man also told security officials that he also received extra training for a paraglider attack while in Gaza earlier in the year, the Times of Israel reported.

On Wednesday, Hamas petitioned Lebanese-based terror group Hezbollah to join its fight against Israel.

“The Lebanese front will open and together we will fight against this formation,” Moussa Abu Marzouk, a Cairo-based deputy head of the political bureau for Hamas, said to Russian-run RIA Novosti, the Times of Israel reported.

Since Israel’s military operations in Gaza began July 8, Hamas’ health ministry says that more than 1,300 Palestinians have been killed, the Associated Press reported Wednesday. Israel has lost 56 soldiers and three civilians.
