Hamas turns to North Korea for weapons deal, Iran for money

Hamas terrorists in Gaza are reportedly looking to North Korea to provide them weapons and communications gear in their fight against Israel.

The weapons deal between Hamas and North Korea is believed to be brokered by a Lebanese-based trading company, with The Telegraph reporting Hamas has even made a cash down payment to push along the deal.

“Hamas is looking for ways to replenish its stocks of missiles because of the large numbers it has fired at Israel in recent weeks,” one security official told The Telegraph. “North Korea is an obvious place to seek supplies because Pyongyang already has close ties with a number of militant Islamist groups in the middle East.”

Military insiders say North Korea has also been providing Hamas with knowledge on tunnel construction, The Telegraph reported. North Korea reportedly used a series of underground tunnels for years to invade and infiltrate South Korea, though only four have been found, the New York Times reported.

The report comes at a time when Rep. Mike Rogers, chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, said Iran has been helping Hamas fight Israel, most notably with money.

Qatar, another supposed ally of the United States, is also supporting Hamas, Mr. Rogers said Sunday during an appearance on CBS’s “Meet the Press.”

“That’s why this is so intertwined that makes it a very dangerous stew indeed,” he said, according to Newsmax. “Iran is publicly, in their own newspapers, touting the fact that they are helping to militarize Hamas in the Gaza Strip. They’re supporting Hezbollah in the fight in Syria and supplying Hamas in the Gaza Strip with weapons.”
