A restaurant owner in Tennessee said customers started flocking to her establishment after she posted signs declaring “Guns are Welcome.”
Sharma Floyd put the sign on the front door of her Shiloh Brew and Chew in Maryville to advertise her pro-Second Amendment views to her customers, a local NBC affiliate reported.
Miss Floyd, who also put the sign on two other doors, said she made the decision to post the signs after reading about a North Carolina business that was robbed shortly after posting a “No Weapons Allowed” sign.
Miss Floyd, who doesn’t carry a weapon herself, said she does try and stop those with guns from drinking alcohol.
“If they say, ’Yes, I have an ankle strap on,’ I say, ’Sorry, then you can’t drink,’” she told the station. “We sell very, very little beer here, but we do offer it. I don’t have a liquor license. I won’t get a liquor license.”
Miss Floyd said the signs so far have brought in more than 20 new customers.
A handful of other restaurants, including Shooters Grill in Rifle, Colorado, have put up the same type of signs and reported the same friendly response from customers.
