Hillary Clinton most liked candidate for 2016, poll shows

Hillary Clinton is the most well-known and liked of 16 presidential contenders in both parties, a poll released Thursday found.

The Gallup poll found that 91 percent of Americans have an opinion about the former Secretary of State, and 55 percent have a positive view of her, 19 points higher than those who have a negative opinion.

She is far ahead from other Democrats in both name recognition and favorability. Sen. Elizabeth Warren, Massachusetts Democrat, has the next highest favorability at 21 percent, just 4 percent higher more than tho 17 percent with a negative opinion of her. Vice President Joseph R. Biden has the second-highest recognition at 80 percent, but a net negative favorability rating.

Mrs. Clinton also outperforms all Republicans in the early poll. Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee is the top GOP candidate with more than 50 percent of those polled knowing who he is and a net favorability of 12 points. Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush and New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie both have high name recognition at 65 percent, but both are not well liked among those polled.

The poll results come from telephone interviews with more than 1,000 adults across the U.S. from July 7-10. The margin of error is 4 percent.
