A 49-year-old Connecticut man was arrested on charges of threatening after a woman complained to police that he stabbed at a watermelon in front of her in a most threatening manner.
The Register Citizen of Torrington reported that Carmine Cervellino was arraigned for threatening and for disorderly conduct, then released on $500 bail. His suspected crime?
Menacing melon carving.
The incident stems back from July 4, when the woman who complained of Mr. Cervellino’s behavior told police she found drugs inside his tool box, the New York Daily News reported. Then, he wasn’t arrested. But she said when she came home later, she found a watermelon sitting on the counter with a butcher knife sticking out of it.
She then said that Mr. Cervellino came into the room and started carving up the melon in a “passive-aggressive” and menacing manner, using the same knife, the New York Daily News reported.
Scared, she called police and had him arrested, the newspaper said.
