The nickel that’s contained within iPads and other technological devices may be causing users allergic-induced rashes, experts said,
Medical journals are reporting that laptops, cellphones, iPads have been found in recent studies to possibly cause rashes in users. An 11-year-old boy was just treated at a San Diego-area hospital with an itchy rash that was found to have stemmed from nickel and traced back to his frequent use of an Apple iPad, The Associated Press reported.
“He used the iPad daily,” said one doctor, AP reported.
The boy’s rash was so uncomfortable he had to miss school, said Dr. Sharon Jacob, a dermatologist who treated him at Rady Children’s Hospital, AP said.
Nickel-related allergies aren’t considered fatal, but they can cause substantial discomfort.
