SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - Tesla Motors is opening its first charging station in Utah as it establishes a nationwide network for an all-electric sedan.
Workers were putting final touches Tuesday on a 4-stall charging station in Blanding.
It shares property with the Blanding Visitor Center, where officials say they’re waiting for the first Tesla to show up in a remote part of southern Utah.
The Palo Alto, Calif.-based company says 30 minutes of charging gives the Tesla sedan enough juice to travel up to 150 miles.
Tesla owners are using the stations free of charge. Tesla picks up the electric bill.
Tesla says it has more than 60 charging stations along a meandering path across the country, and plans to add dozens more through 2015, including several more in Utah.
