RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - Gov. Terry McAuliffe will deliver the keynote address at the annual agricultural trade conference next month in Richmond.
The 6th edition of the conference scheduled for March 6-7 brings together growers and other producers, exporters and Virginia’s trade partners. Ambassadors from Japan and Vietnam are scheduled to attend this year’s convention.
The convention also typically ushers in the release of the latest export numbers, and McAuliffe will continue that tradition. He’ll release export numbers from 2013.
In 2012, the state recorded $2.6 billion agricultural exports. That was a record.
Sponsors of the convention include Virginia Tech’s Department of Agricultural and Applied Economics, the state Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services and the Farm Bureau Federation.
