MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. (AP) - Rayshawn Simmons converted 3 of 4 from the free throw line in the closing seconds of overtime to earn Central Michigan its first Mid-America Conference victory - a 78-73 win over Kent State Wednesday night.

Kellon Thomas hit a 3-pointer with 29 seconds left in overtime to pull the Golden Flashes within a point, 74-73, but Simmons hit a pair of free throws with 15 seconds left, then hit the first of two with five seconds left to complete the scoring.

Kent State’s K.K. Simmons drilled a 3-pointer with 28 seconds left in regulation to tie the score at 61-61 and force overtime.

John Simons led Central Michigan (8-13, 1-8 MAC) with 22 points and 11 rebounds. Chris Fowler added 18 points and Simmons and Braylon Rayson each added another 10.

Kris Brewer scored 17 points to lead Kent State (12-10, 3-6). Darren Goodson added 15 points and 10 rebounds.
