ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) - Officials at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson say an Air Force staff sergeant has been found dead in his off-base home in Eagle River.

KTUU-TV reports (https://is.gd/SsW9sG ) that the Anchorage base announced Wednesday that 33-year-old Staff Sgt. Samuel Davis was pronounced dead at his home early Sunday. Anchorage police and the Air Force Office of Special Investigations are looking into the death.

Police spokeswoman Dani Myren says a woman who called for help from the home said Davis wasn’t breathing and added that he was recovering from recent back surgery.

Myren says nothing seems suspicious and no foul play is suspected.

Air Force officials say Davis was originally from Spencer, W. Va., and served as an aerospace maintenance craftsman with the 703rd Aircraft Maintenance Squadron. He joined the Air Force in April 2000.

KTUU says Davis is the fourth serviceman from the base found dead this month.
