Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush is stepping down from the board of timber company Rayonier Inc. as he pulls back from business ventures ahead of a possible run for the White House in 2016.

The Jacksonville-based firm said in a regulatory filing that he would step down from the company, set up as a real estate investment trust, at the end of the year, The Associated Press reported.

Mr. Bush already said he would be stepping down as well from the board of Tenet Healthcare Corp., which supported President Obama’s health care overhaul. The company said the resignation is not on account of any disagreement with Tenet, but Mr. Bush does oppose the law.

He also plans to leave his role with the banking company Barclays by the end of the year.
