Former NBA star Dennis Rodman doesn’t appear to be thrilled about Sony’s Wednesday release of “The Interview,” saying that people should watch his documentary on the despotic nation instead.

Mr. Rodman has notoriously made trips to North Korea to party and play basketball with Kim Jong-un — a notion dubbed by some as “basketball diplomacy.” After returning from his latest trip last year, he said about Kim: “I love my friend.”

Mr. Rodman has been mum on the controversy surrounding the North Korean satire movie “The Interview,” breaking his silence on Wednesday only to say, “I have no opinion of ’The Interview.’ It’s only a movie,” CNN Money reported.

Instead, he said, Americans should see his documentary at the Slamdance Film Festival.

“If you want to see the real thing and what really goes on there, go see the screening of my documentary ’Big Bang in Pyongyang’ at the Slamdance Film Festival at the end of January,” Mr. Rodman said, CNN reported. “It’s going to be EPIC!”
