Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe announced recently that the commonwealth faces a $2.4 billion deficit over the next three years. More than 250,000 illegal immigrants have invaded Virginia — at the cost of $1.7 billion per year. These illegals increase crime and overwhelm Virginia’s Medicaid, schools and welfare systems. They ratchet up poverty, take away jobs from blue-collar Virginians and keep wages low.

The fact that Virginia has several “sanctuary cities” only invites more illegals to immigrate here. This is unsustainable to both taxpayers and the commonwealth of Virginia.

Mr. McAuliffe has a responsibility to encourage the passage of measures, such as the Virginia Rule of Law, that protect Virginia’s residents from this invasion and put an end to sanctuary cities here.
