Donald Trump had harsh words Monday for the Rev. Al Sharpton on Fox News, saying his presence in Ferguson, Missouri, is inflammatory and that the reverend looks for occasions where he can gain from playing the race card.
“Al Sharpton is doing his thing,” Mr. Trump said during an appearance on “Fox & Friends.” “That’s what he does. He fans flames, there’s no question about it. For him, it’s a cottage industry, He makes a living … [and] stands on a soapbox and he rants and raves.”
Mr. Sharpton has responded to the Aug. 9 police shooting of Michael Brown with calls for protests and open condemnations of law enforcement, which released surveillance video last week that showed the 18-year-old could have been involved in a robbery just before the shooting.
