LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) — A report shows Arkansas’ state employees paid more on average for health coverage last year than other state’s employees.

The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reported (https://bit.ly/1sPz9qF ) Monday that the analysis is by the State Health Care Spending Project - which is an initiative by Pew Charitable Trusts and the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation.

The study found Arkansas’ state employees paid nearly $20 a month more on average for individual health coverage than other state’s workers. Arkansas state employees also paid nearly $60 more per month than the national average for coverage that included dependents.

The report also said coverage provided under Arkansas plans were slightly less comprehensive.

An Arkansas state employee’s plan would cover about 2 percent less than the national average for expected medical costs.
