House Democrats are sporting stickers Friday urging the House to take up a bill to extend unemployment insurance once it passes the Senate.
The stickers show the number of constituents in the lawmakers’ home state who would benefit from extending the federal long-term unemployment benefits, which expired Dec. 28, according to a spokesman for the Ways and Means Committee. More than 2 million people across the country would benefit if the insurance was reinstated.
Senate Democrats finally broke a GOP-led filibuster of the retroactive five-month extension this week, and is expected to pass the bill on Monday.
Speaker John A. Boehner has said he doesn’t support the proposal because it doesn’t include enough measures to actually create jobs.
