As the “General of The Rusty Humphries Rebellion,” I wear many hats. I produce videos and columns for The Washington Times. I choose the ”Liberal Bully Of The Week” (which, by the way, has not been a very difficult chore as of late). When I write for The Washington Times, I give you my opinion on the issues of the day.
In one of my other capacities, I am the spokesman for “The Primary Boehner Campaign,” a group leading the effort to help end John Boehner’s reign as speaker of the House, and representative of the people of the 8th Congressional District of Ohio.
In that capacity, I have gotten to know a young man named J.D. Winteregg. J.D. is the challenger our group chose to support efforts to defeat John Boehner. Recently, J.D. was fired from his job because of a campaign ad that his employer found to be “offensive.” You can watch the full interview with J.D. Winteregg, and judge for yourself if his termination was warranted.
Over the past few months of serving as spokesman for this group, my hands have been tied. I must continually check and double-check what I can do and say, who I can talk with, and more due to campaign finance laws and rules on PACs. The “McCain/Feingold Incumbent Protection Law” is very effective at keeping incumbents in place, and any challenger at a serious disadvantage.
It’s too bad that a good man like J.D. Winteregg has to lose his livelihood and freedom of speech, just to replace a congressman who gets his full pay and benefits no matter how many dumb things he says, how many wrong decisions he makes, and how much money he spends.
Please watch the full interview with J.D. Winteregg, then comment. Should J.D. Winteregg have been fired for that ad? Is it time for John Boehner to retire to that new condo in Florida, or do you think he’s doing a fab job?
Until our next briefing, this is The Rusty Humphries Rebellion.
