LAKEWOOD, Wash. (AP) - The American Lake Veterans Golf Course hosted a tournament Saturday to raise funds to send four wounded golfers to play on some of Scotland’s most historic courses.

The goal of the tourney, played with old hickory shaft clubs, was to raise money for the trip to Scotland that would include one round on the Old Course at St. Andrews and include wounded veterans from other countries.

According to organizers of the tournament, the four wounded golfers would use specialized ParaGolfer carts and be the first to use the carts at the Old Course.

American Lake Golf Course has been renovated over the past decade to make it accessible for wounded veterans. Plans are in place for an additional nine holes to be added to the facility constructed by the Nicklaus Design Group.
