MARINE CORPS AIR STATION BEAUFORT, S.C. (AP) - Marines from the Beaufort Air Station are conducting a search and rescue drill off the South Carolina coast.

Sgt. Marcy Sanchez says Friday’s drill is taking place in the waters off Bull Point.

Sanchez says the drill includes members of the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office, Beaufort Memorial Hospital and the U.S. Coast Guard Air Station in Savannah.

The exercise is designed to test emergency responders’ ability to respond to an aviation mishap.

It involves members of Marine Corps Aircraft Group 31 from the air station.
