TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) - Florida’s Firefighter of the Year is a lieutenant from Tallahassee’s department.
Lt. Rusty Roberts was honored Tuesday by Gov. Rick Scott and other members of the Florida Cabinet.
The Tallahassee Democrat reports (https://on.tdo.com/1ieIpQi ) that Roberts was honored for his 25-year career, his work fighting wildfires and for starting a children’s burn camp 14 years ago called “Camp Amigo.”
He is also director of the Children’s Burn Camp of North Florida, which provides support to young burn victims dealing with emotional and physical scars.
