INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - A central Indiana man has been sentenced to 10 years in prison on federal charges stemming from the seizure of more than 30 machine guns and ammunition from his home.
U.S. Attorney Joe Hogsett says 49-year-old Jackie Richardson was sentenced on one count each of being a felon in possession of a firearm and unlawful possession of a machine gun.
The Indianapolis Star reports (https://indy.st/RIvUl1 ) the Coatsville man was arrested in 2011 after police found about 175 firearms and more than 59,000 rounds of ammunition in his home.
Federal prosecutors say 35 of those guns were fully automatic machine guns.
Hogsett says Richardson had no legal right to possess firearms or ammunition at the time of his arrest because of prior felony convictions that included battery and theft.
