TULSA, Okla. (AP) - The Mental Health Association in Tulsa is changing its name and expanding services statewide after an affiliate agency closed in Oklahoma City.

The new name is the Mental Health Association Oklahoma, which represents people affected by mental illness and homelessness.

The association’s name change and expansion comes after the recent closure of its Oklahoma City-based counterpart, the Mental Health Association of Central Oklahoma.

Since the nonprofit was founded in 1955, the organization has been a resource for mental health and substance abuse providers, social service agencies and schools to ensure that mental health screenings and treatment are provided throughout communities.
