FAYETTEVILLE, W.Va. (AP) - Appalachian Power has announced a $56 million project to improve the power transmission system in the Fayette County area.

The work will be outlined at an informational workshop April 22 at Midland Trail High School.

The utility says the work involves the construction of approximately nine miles of 138-kilovolt transmission line and approximately two miles of 69-kilovolt transmission line. The project also includes the rebuilding and upgrading of transmission lines and the construction of two substations, plus other improvements.

The project’s center is eight miles east of Fayetteville. Appalachian Power says it will address reliability and other issues.
