COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - An Ohio nonprofit group will use $250,000 in grant money to create a national online tool to help employers educate their workers to recognize signs of domestic violence.
The Ohio Domestic Violence Network on Friday announced the grant from the Avon Foundation for Women and the plan for the “Breakthrough Bystander Behavior Training Programs.”
The foundation said the grant comes on the heels of a survey that found silence and shame are still “profound” issues surrounding domestic violence and sexual assault. Officials said those findings “underscore the urgent need for increased awareness, conversation, and education” around the subject.
The domestic violence network, along with the Ohio Alliance to End Sexual Violence, plans to convene a panel of experts to help create the online tool kit.
