NORTH PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - An official with the Rhode Island Department of Business Regulation who recently was placed on paid leave has agreed to step down from his part-time job as a municipal court judge in North Providence.
Officials in Gov. Lincoln Chaffee’s administration suspended lawyer Louis DeQuattro Jr. for undisclosed reasons from his $129,000-a-year job as deputy director of the Business Regulation Department.
North Providence Mayor Charles Lombardi told The Providence Journal (https://bit.ly/1lzKFTv ) that DeQuattro agreed Monday to step aside from the municipal court judge job while the state job matter is pending.
Lombardi appointed DeQuattro to the $7,900-a-year judge job in 2011.
DeQuattro didn’t immediately return a message seeking comment Tuesday.
