ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) - Teachers have reached a tentative contract agreement in Minnesota’s largest school district following 10 months of negotiations.

The union representing 2,800 teachers says it negotiated raises of 1½ percent for experienced teachers in the first year of the contract with the Anoka-Hennepin School District and 2 percent in the second year. New teachers would receive 1½ percent more in the second year. All teachers would receive a one-time $1,000 bonus.

Teachers are expected to vote on the deal the week of April 14. If they ratify the agreement, it would go to the school board for a final vote, possibly on April 28.

The district serves nearly 39,000 students in 13 suburban communities north of the Twin Cities. It operates 24 elementary schools, six middle schools, five high schools and two alternative schools.
