Fundraising for the National Rifle Association has seen a sharp increase since the president’s reelection and talks of sweeping federal gun control measures, with the PAC reporting its best single month of fundraising in more than a decade.

The NRA raised $500,000 more for February than they did the month prior, with over $1.6 million raised, according to the latest FEC filings posted Tuesday, Politico reports. The committee raised $1.7 million in the October before the 2000 election, according to the report.

The NRA’s fundraising pace has increased considerably since the December shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School that killed 26 people.

The committee raised an average of $600,000 per month last year, but the pace this January and February alone has doubled from the previous cycle. Its PAC ends the month with a $4 million war chest, Politico reports.
