Ill. youth baseball league raffling AR-15 to raise money

A central Illinois youth baseball league struggling to raise money has decided on a novel approach — raffle an AR-15 rifle.
 
The Atwood-Hammond league hopes the fund-raiser beats last year’s attempt to auction half a hog, which yielded a total of $10.

By all accounts, it will.

“My phone has been ringing off the hook,” said Charidy Bucher, co-owner of the Atwood Armory shop, told Townhall. “The response has been tremendous. … People from out of state have been calling.”

But the raffle winner will get more than the rifle. They’ll also receive 260 ammunition rounds, Townhall says.

So far, complaints have been kept to a minimum. Steve McClain, who leads the local youth baseball program, told Fox News that those who have complained “don’t even understand what an AR-15 is. They are misinformed.”
