MSNBC analyst Adam Lankford attempted to point a finger at the Tea Party for Monday’s terror attack on the Boston Marathon, saying, “This did happen on tax day in Boston, the place of the Tea Party.”

“The Cycle” host S.E. Cupp asked Mr. Lankford, the author of The Myth of Martyrdom: What Really Drives Suicide Bombers, Rampage Shooters and Other Destructive Killer, why someone would want to commit such a horrible act and what separates a suicide bomber and someone who plants a bomb and escapes.

“So they’re basically carrying out these reasonably rational attacks to try to have a political effect as opposed to suicide bombers who are really overwhelmed by psychological problems,” Mr. Lankford replied. “What that tells us about this kind of attacker is that we can kind of put ourselves in his shoes and say, what would we have been concerned about if we were carrying out this attack?”

“We don’t know whether they’re trying to complain about abortion, about taxes,” he continued. “This did happen on tax day in Boston, the place of the Tea Party. Or are they trying to protest, you know, foreign wars or something? That statement has been completely lost.”
