OPINION:
Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, chairman of the Democratic National Committee, recently blamed the Tea Party movement for last year’s shooting in Tucson, Ariz., which killed six people and seriously injured Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, Arizona Democrat (“Wasserman Schultz disgracefully equates Tea Party to Tucson shooting,” Web, Thursday).
“I hesitate to place blame, but I have noticed it take a very precipitous turn towards edginess and lack of civility with the growth of the Tea Party movement,” she said.
That irresponsible, divisive and inflammatory statement calls into question Mrs. Wasserman Schultz’s judgment, legitimacy to govern and her ability hold office. She needs to apologize to America.
