LOS ANGELES (AP) - A collection of reactions to Whitney Houston’s death Saturday in Beverly Hills at age 48.

_ “First of all, I want to tell you that I love you all. Second, I would like to say, I love you Whitney. The hardest thing for me to do is to come on this stage.” _ Houston’s ex-husband Bobby Brown, performing a show in Southaven, Miss., hours after her death.

_ “I am devastated by the loss of Whitney. We have lost a true angel. My prayers, my heart goes out to her family. We have lost an extraordinary voice to the world. ” _ singer Lionel Richie.

_ “Heartbroken and in tears over the shocking death of my friend, the incomparable Ms. Whitney Houston. She will never be forgotten as one of the greatest voices to ever grace the earth.” _ Mariah Carey, in messages posted on Twitter.

_ “A light has been dimmed in our music community today, and we extend our deepest condolences to her family, friends, fans and all who have been touched by her beautiful voice.” _ Neil Portnow, president and CEO of the Recording Academy.

_ “I truly, truly adored Whitney Houston. Her album ’I’m Your Baby Tonight’ was the very first album I ever bought.” _ Michelle Williams of Destiny’s Child.
