Libya’s prime minister told his Turkish counterpart in a phone call Thursday night that Tripoli was implementing a cease-fire, according to a senior Turkish official.

“The prime minister of Libya has already called my prime minister [Recep Tayyip Erdogan] and informed us that they are implementing a cease-fire,” Turkish EU Affairs Minister Egemen Bagis told reporters Friday morning.

Mr. Bagis said that Mr. Erdogan also had spoken to Libyan dictator Moammar Gadhafi “at least three times” in recent weeks and to President Obama “at least four or five times.”

Turkey, which had argued against military intervention in Libya, has announced its support for the U.N. Security Council resolution authorizing a no-fly zone over Libya.
