It is time that the media, including The Washington Times, publish some commentary about all the lies President Obama has been telling lately. Certainly, the public cannot rely on the mainstream news media to keep informed about such matters. So to get things started, here are a few recent examples of Mr. Obama’s falsehoods:

At one town hall meeting, Mr. Obama claimed pollution from burning coal causes children to come down with asthma. False. The truth of the matter is that medical authorities do not know what causes asthma. At another town hall meeting, the president claimed the sudden collapse in 2007 of a bridge in Minneapolis was due to a lack of funds necessary to perform maintenance on the infrastructure. False again. It was a design flaw, not a maintenance problem, that caused the bridge to collapse.

Here is another tall tale: Mr. Obama claims the elderly will lose Medicare and Social Security benefits under House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan’s proposed budget. Actually, the Ryan plan does not touch Social Security or Medicare benefits received by senior recipients.

I could go on, for there is no shortage of material on this subject. The media should shine a light on these lies. Mr. Obama has been getting away with them long enough.
