The Ahmed Ghailani verdict by a New York jury last week showed that it is misguided to wage the war on terror in the courtroom. It is best to detain al Qaeda terrorists, interrogate them for intelligence and delay their trials until the end of hostilities without bringing them to America and giving them lawyers and the full protection of our Constitution, which they do not deserve.

The Obama administration’s whole law enforcement approach interferes with combat operations by our troops and endangers their lives unnecessarily. Civilian trials give al Qaeda details about our capabilities and risk the release of vital intelligence, which can be used against our troops. President Obama needs to recognize that we are in a war on terror and return our country to a proper war-fighting strategy without civilian courtrooms and legal entanglements. Detention of terrorists is the best solution for effective interrogation, collection of intelligence and winning the war.
