AVONDALE, ARIZ. (AP) - Kyle Busch admits he still has a lot to learn, and his outburst last weekend clearly shows that a little more maturity would serve him well.
But Busch bristles at the notion that his antics are the reason he hasn’t won a Sprint Cup Series championship.
He enters Sunday’s race at Phoenix International Raceway ranked seventh in the Cup standings. He’s been out of title contention for several weeks, and his 32nd-place finish at Texas didn’t help.
Busch was penalized for speeding, then parked two laps for unsportsmanlike conduct for an obscene gesture to a NASCAR official.
Busch says he regrets such behavior, although it hasn’t hurt him on the track.
