MADRID (AP) - Real Madrid soccer great Alfredo Di Stefano has been released from the hospital after being monitored for a heart problem.

The 84-year-old Argentine left Madrid’s La Moraleja Hospital on Saturday. He was admitted July 23. The team says he will join his family on vacation.

Di Stefano has a history of heart problems. He spent nine days in the hospital this month after a respiratory infection was discovered during a checkup.

Di Stefano is an honorary president of Real Madrid. He scored an estimated 890 goals in a 22-year career for the team. He led Real Madrid to five straight European Cup titles in the 1950s, helping transform the Spanish club into an international power.
